Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities confirmed on late Wednesday. The athlete was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Healing from Light Wounds
The sports star had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.
Honoring the Deceased
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
This update on his health follows the boxing community had expressed condolences for the fighter in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
