Barcelona Set to Play First Match at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday
Barcelona have announced they are set to host at the still-under-construction Camp Nou over the weekend. They will welcome the Basque side in La Liga two and a half years since relocating for construction to commence.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees can be present under the licence granted. When completed, it will accommodate over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. The club said recent additions comprise a new players’ tunnel along with upgraded changing facilities.
Preparatory Events
The club conducted a public practice inside the stadium on 7 November. They mentioned they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt in December in the renovated venue. Their recent games have been held at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
